Shock Therapy is good at documenting the facts but I don’t like the analysis though. She misrepresents capitalism for fascism. Its so anti-free market(when there is no free market) that it looks like another socialist propaganda tool.

I was just watching , Adam Curtis’ The trap, here on youtube and on the last episode , you see how the theories of a young jeffrey sachs , who was a consultant of boris eltsine at the time, drove millions of russians to an extreme poverty and i just cant believe that this guy still have credibility for some

he is going to do the same with africa and when he will fail he will blame africans

im reading Easterly’ s the burden of the white man and after that will start naomi klein’s schock therapy…. that book really opened my eyes

African nations have failed where most asian nations have succeeded because there were no jeffrey sachs in their business…. those kinds of guys from harvard , totally far away from the reality of those populations who think they have an answer for everthing

jeffrey sachs theories have been desastrous in Poland, Russia and Bolivia. those countries have seen an exponential increaes in equalities and the degradation of the poorests’ condition of living.

PLEASE JEFFREY SACHS LIVE AFRICA ALONE.

beginning in the 1700′s, Europe used natural and human rescources to get themselves out of poverty. Furthermore, during the cold war the CIA and Russia, used thier rescources to eliminate democratically elected leaders and install thier leaders. (ie. mombutu, mugabe, the shah, amongst others) many of those leaders that were installed were given billions in aid and they only used it for themselves. Its irrational to think that these countries became poor without outside influences.

Thinking that poor countries need the help of foreign governments to get out of poverty is gross ignorance in basic economics. Angelina Jolie needs to give her money to a private charity instead of these bureaucratic hacks!

There is widespread poverty and corruption in the US yet the taxpayers money still go to Africa where corrupt African politicians will use money for their own purposes instead of helping their people. Its sick! Since when did nations have the obligation to help other nations and when did a nation ever need another nation to get itself out of poverty. Foreign Aid is just a scam created to fool and pacify the masses.

She is one of the reasons why their is poverty.
Her consumption of resources, equals that of the several million living in poverty.

Sachs clearly shows, in all five parts of these videos, how easily we could end poverty across the world. All these people need is a quick jumpstart for them to provide for them selves. Poverty is the root of disease, and many other problems that affect poverty strucken areas in the world.

I cannot criticize someone who takes action to help others. Angelina Jolie’s generosity is very touching.

Well…she could donate a ton more. Her income alone could build a well in every village in Africa.

wiping out poverty should not be a goal

Maybe it will force us (in the West) to re-think our exploitative relationship with our brothers and sisters in other countries, and find a way that will support a decent life for everyone? From greed to sharing, from competition to co-operation, from conflict to peace? Would we choose it if given the chance?

See what happens when the economy tanks, no one believe we can wipe extreme poverty in 20 years now.

Well, she ain’t only raising awareness, she donates like one third of her money to these people too.

it’s nice showing alternatives for african people to avoid certain illnesses, grow their own food, etc, but the main issue is that poor people exist because other people are too rich and greedy, nothing else. angelina, well, it’s good that she tries to raise awareness, but she’s also part of the system that keeps this unbalanced and unfair system going. the richer, the more overpaid, the guiltier of letting others die hungry, killed, tortured, ill. the poor should be idolized for their patience.

Ha! What’s next – Paul Collier and Jessica Alba set up a soup kitchen?

damn it, this looks like a great documentary but i just cant help thinking that she is sooo beautiful when they get her talking close up….
she is such a strong and intelligent woman, using her fame for goodwill
